I have an 1988 volvo penta 1000 hrs great shape. When hitting 4000 rpm's my oil pressure gets right up to "H" at 3000 it comes back down is this ok or could this be a problem other than that this engine purrs.I just dont want to be causing any harm with the gauge at"H" engine temp remains in the middle. Thanks

Re: high oil pressure

No I have owned the boat for 1 season and it has always done this the thing is everything else is great quiet, smooth etc.And the temp is dead-on all the time.I usually "cruise" at 30-35 mph at 3000 rpm with oil pressure at 3/4 but as soon as I go WOT she's right up to far right "H" mark.Just concerned is all and was wondering if anyone else encounterd this.

I personally would not worry...But if your the worrying kind, Put a manual gage on it and test it.
