My 5.7 runs 60 psi at 3500 rpms at operating temp. I think you just got a good tight engine..Whats it drop to at idle when at operating temp?

Not sure, having trouble with my valve covers, no matter what I do I can't get them to stop leaking, replaced both gaskets and valve covers. The other day I popped the hatch while underway and noticed a good amount of smoke coming out of the valve cover edge. Very worried that I'm gonna be rebuilding this engine.

That has nothing to do with oil preasure. Do you have a line from each valve cover to your spark arrester?

Are you using cork gaskets or neoprene? The biggest problem people have when replacing valve cover gaskets is that they way over tighten the bolts thinking that will keep them from leaking.

scott, hope you installed a deeper oil pan , too easy to pump out the 4 qts into the engine and have 0 oil pressure
the oil pressure reading with an electrical sender is relative. you either see a reading or you don't. install a mechanical to verify the actual pressure
high pressure can be :
incorrect sender/ incorrect ohms value
the oil pump, oil pump reliefe valve
wrong oil filter, clogged oil filter
spun main bearing ,spun cam bearings
