I took my boat out today after it has been sitting for a few weeks.I was running WOT 5500 rpm's and it would sneeze or miss so bad it would lose speed and I could feel the torque free up in the steering. After I fished a little while and moved to another hole it ran fine. It is a 1989 XP150 Evenrude. It has been raining alot the past week. Could this have something to do with it. Carbs rebuilt about 2 months ago. Thanks

Re: High speed miss

Then can we assume it's running fine now? May have had some debris in carb jet that freed itself through,or wiring on ignition components were damp and arcing and later dried out .Is this rig stored inside or out?Check battery terminals for positive connection and wiring grounds on engine block.

Re: High speed miss

Thanks OB, It is stored outside. I also thought it might be mositure in it somewhere and it dried out. The last time I had it out it did the same thing, (it was Rainy then also)It would miss, almost quit for a couple of seconds then go on.After I ran it a little while it ran fine.I will check ground on engine. Thanks

xp150 - Water/mositure makes the engine sound like its about to explode at high speed. Just add a little dry gas to the fuel.<br />steve
