Any suggestions about how to set the WOT timing on a 2001 150 Johnson without risking your life riding on the back of the boat holding a timing light?

Years ago, we had test props which would allow you to rev up the engines in tanks or at the dock.
A dealer could tell you if one is available for your engine.

We always do it at the ramp with the boat on the trailer.

Good luck!

You don't even have to run the motor to set timing on that model. A special electronic tester is used. It takes only a few moments and you could have a QUALIFIED tech do it for the 1/2hr minimum charge. It is a lot quicker and a lot safer than hanging out the back of the boat with a timing lite.
