I do alot of high speed trolling off of the treasure coast of florida and was wondering if there was anyone else out there who does this.I always like to at the very least drop a high speed lure out when i am going to a bottom fishing spot that is more than a few miles away from any where else i am going to try.have had pretty decent results,60 # wahoo,51#dolphin,2 40#wahoos.the lures i am dragging are being trolled at anywhere from 12 to 18 knots.curious if anyone has any stories to share.

Re: high speed trolling

I don't do any high speed trolling right now (very small boat), but that seems to be the E-ticket for anyone looking to pick up a Wahoo or two.. I'll probably give it a try eventually when the big boat's ready.. It's gotta be a blast to have a monster wahoo(the fastest swimming fish in the ocean) nail a bait at that speed and then have the fish turn and head in the other direction...

I mostly bottom fish inshore and near shore around Jupiter on the 65 foot reef east/northeast of the inlet and around Peanut Island and Palm Beach... I'm one of the few crazy fools who'll head out Jupiter inlet in a 15' flats boat...

I have done some slow bait dragging with some frends for dolphin and such with fair results using ballyhoo(skirted and not) and big mullet..
