Re: high thrust

The Yammi T8 looks like it runs a much bigger prop too. Makes sense with different gear ratio.

Re: high thrust

the T gearcase swings a larger dia wheel and is desined more for a displacement speed rig such as a kicker on a large sailboat or barge type vessel.
the F gearcase is designed for planing speeds.
yes the gear ratios are different as is prop selection.

Re: high thrust

It is the same principle that is used with trucks. Most regular 2 wheel drive trucks will probably have 3.21 gears, 4 wheel drives have 4.50 to 4.88 gears
T8 and T9.9 are ideal motors for trolling a 21 ft or large boat for salmon fishing or other trolling methods.
There is no way you are going to get enough speed out of an 8 to 15 hp kicker to plain a 21 ft or larger boat. I just replaced a 15 hp Honda with a T9.9 Yamaha and it handles my 23 WA much better than the Honda. Honda, Tohatsu(Mercury), and Suzuki all have high thrust motors now.
