Hey guys so after years and years of waiting to get my first boat I finally got everything in line and took the plunge. Picked up a near mint 2007 Scout 187 CC that has been a dream so far. Had it since February and put over 60 hours on it just taking it to the lake at home.
Now, however, I want to start getting into the main purpose of why I got a boat....ocean boating. In planning trips to various coasts and beaches around the area I became curious if it's common or even possible for marinas to offer docking for a couple hours at a time, much akin to parking your car, so you can take advantage of some amenities and go enjoy some shore time. I see most every marina has daily rates but I don't really want to pay a fee for an entire day and night when all I want to do is dock the boat for a bit and go eat or walk on the beach for an hour or so.
I'm specifically looking at the Hilton Head, SC / Tybee Island, GA area as we are planning to be there next weekend and I'd really like to motor over to Hilton Head from Tybee to check out the area. I've sent a couple emails out to some of the local marinas but I figured I'd ask here to get a primer on the general practice and etiquette of how to go about doing this.
Thanks guys!
