can someone tell me how many#s are in hin # . I found 12 #s. and need to know how to read there meaning. this is # I found right rear corner of transom. 3n2132723989. I found how to determine hin # but it has 15 letters and numbers confused.thanks everyone

Any idea of the make, model of the boat? Obviously, it is a 1989 model. Not every manufacturer used a combo of letters & numbers, although most did. There are some that just used mostly numbers.

A HIN starts with 3 letters. Are you sure about the 3N2?

stratos 1700xl 3.o cobra runabout ski. just trying to verify correct yr. haven't found papers oni= it yet. owner said it was 87 or 88 with 140 h.p. the motr model # its 89, 120 h.p. . want to know if boat matches motor, it would be a lot better with paper work, want to restore it and like to know what im actually getting .

So, where IS the paperwork? Many, many sad stories here of people buying a boat without it, and the hoops they jumped through to register it later. Sometimes it isn't even possible. Be careful.

Stratos used several MIC codes (MIC is the first 3 letters)

BNZ is the one you are trying to read.

They also used GSN, PSS, and TTA.

owner put in a file ( box ) im sure I will get it , just anxious to determine yr. motor before I haul it home. its free to haul off, not gonna haul it home before I get paperwork. just tryin to get a jump on research. grate advice .
