was on i-95 yesterday and had a guy swerve into my lane and crunch my front fender and tore off my bumper. he didn't seem like he was going to stop so i followed behind him for a few feet and yes he did finally stop. no one was hurt and the damage wasn't even all that bad but i pay for insurance so in case these things happen im covered. the guy got out of his car and asked what i was gonna do, and i said im gonna get in my car sit in the a/c and call the police so i can file a accident report. i had a friend in my car who was smart enough to get the license plate. we all got in our cars and he sped off. when the officer got arrived and ran the the plate for the car showed the owner had insurance and no warrants or anything. thought that it was kinda strange he would run off. never been in a accident so i called my insurance and i guess its a waiting game. hope his insurance fixes my car i dont care if its a 10 year old Hyundai it drives fine and i dont feel like being in dept just to go back in forth to work.

Assuming they catch the culprit, and he's held accountable, his insurance should pay for the damage to your car, up to it's value, anyway.
If it's a 10 yr old Hyundai, and the cost of repairs exceed the value of the car, they'd probably buy your car instead.
Plus the twit will hopefully get nailed for leaving the scene- maybe the guy was drinking and didn't want to get popped for DUI.

My thoughts exactly. Or had a chemistry experiment going on in the trunk.:D

Even if they total it and pay you the money for it you can probably still get them to return your car to you. I got my Mustang back after I was hit by a semi and it was totaled. I planned on rebuilding it but wound up selling it to a body shop.

Re: hit and run

the damage is to the front quarter panel and the front bumper both parts with paint i don't foresee being more expensive than the car. he didnt act drunk but when he got out of his car i dont think he was expecting 2 300 plus pound guys to crawl out of such a girlie car. i would like to know what happens if it was a stolen car, or stolen plate, will my car ever get fixed?

You car will get fixed, it's just a question of who pays. If the driver who hit you is responsible for the crash, his insurance company should pay for your damages. That's assuming the car wan't stolen and the driver has insurance.
If the guy was driving a stolen car, then it might get interesting. Not sure how many car theives have insurance, you'd have to likely pay or have your insurance company pay, then try to collect from the car thief (lotsa luck!)
The legitimate owner of the car or his insurance company wouldn't be responsible for your damages, in all likelyhood.
That's one good reason to make sure you have adequate coverage for uninsured and underinsured drivers.

Florida is a no fault state so just call your insurance company they will pay it out of your uninsured motorist.
