I hit a stray crab pot yesterday pretty much ruining our day. We were in really shallow water going maybe 3-4 MPH. I was trying to back off of a shoal. We heard nothing. My port motor just died. I thought we were just stuck in the mud. I could get it in neutral but when I put it in forward, it wouod die kind of like a safety switch. We made it back to the marina on one engine thankfully. When the guy fork lifted my boat out of the water, that is when we firs saw the mangled crab pot. I managed to cut everything off and I could turn the props. The problem now is that I can't get the controls to work correctly. Throttle only works ok but the drive does not. It will not go to the reverse position. What did I break?

probably the shift cable .You will need to remove the drive to check it for proper shifting Then check the operation of the shift cable

Thanks. I'll add that when I say I can't move the cibtrol to reverse, I mean that literally. It won't go past neutral. I didn't want to snap the handle.
