We are running Mercruiser 496 Mag Bravo 3's in most of our 24' - 27' Cobalts, some with 2.0 and some with 2.20 gear ratios. We are constantly hitting the rev limiter using 26P props at 6200ft elev. Anyone think that these would be better for overall performance of the boat when loaded down or should we use the 28's?

Re: Hitting the Rev Limiter

I assume from your question that the intial tests were with lightly loaded boats? If so, then how quickly do you hit the rev limiter? If it happens before you start playing with trim etc. then I would say go for the 28s. If it happens only after it settles in and you have played with the trim then I would leave them alone, a little more load will make it right. My .02
