Sorry to hear that, hopefully he will show up in a day or two. Maybe it's just the weather or something, we're just down the road from you and our cats have been acting weird and skittish the last couple of days.

He will probably be back soon. I have had male cats disappear for couple of months, only to show up scrawny and dirty, but sporting a slight smile......

The correct terminology is emasculated, not broken or fixed.

I hope he comes back soon. Our next door neighbor's cat was mistakenly left outside when they went on a week vacation this past summer. He was a partially outside cat. Totally unacceptable I realize and by the time they returned he was nowhere to be found. I felt so bad and a little mad at them, I went on a few searches myself with no luck. Almost three weeks later he showed up in my back yard lurking in the woods, skinny, thirsty and hungry and scared. They had written him off and their little kids were as happy as can be to see him again. I would have bet the farm a car had hit him. I've heard many even more amazing stories of cat survival in much worse winter conditions around here as well. Cats are amazingly resilliant. I wouldn't write him off for a while.

How'd you get so lucky?

The wife has 3 cats, 2 dogs, and a rabbit. Guess who gets to take care of them.

When I was a kid, we had a cat return home after a year, fine fit and fat. Still had its collar and Garfield disposition.

Obviously he found some better staff.
