1970 Johnson 115HP
----------------------------------------------
My wife thinks I have enough of these already, but:

Should there be a hole at the bottom of the port side head? The starboard head has this hole (which was blocked by crud). There seems to be an indentation there (see arrow) but it seems very solid. Am I supposed to have two temp sending units on this engine (one for each head)? The port head does not have one.

Re: hole in my head

Hi Dan.

Yes, you should have a temp sensor in each head. If I recall right, the port side head sensor had two wires coming from it. One went to the choke and the other was the overheat signal to the alarm horn for the port head. If you don't have either, I would see about getting them installed.

The lead that went to the choke was intended to keep the choke closed a little until the engine warmed up. Really a usless wire. You can live with out it..

By the by....the picture didn't make it.
