Aquired an 83 Hydra Sport 2100CC.

Transom sounds solid and flexes very little when pushing on the 200 Evin. There are a couple of old screw holes there than have gelcoat on them. Plus I need to remove a few items and replace with newer transducer etc...

Whats the best thing to fill the holes with? Go back to gelcoat or use some of the filler epoxy type stuff that West advertises and inject each hole?

Boat has not been in the water in about 5 years if that makes any difference.

Also rebuilding the engine -- at this point with the power head and lower unit off, should I remove the rest and check the motor bolt holes and try to add some sealant there also? I would not mind taking the top transom trim loose just to see but advice is welcome.

Jeff

Re: Holes in transom

Fill the screw holes with epoxy. In general, you should use epoxy to seal any exposed wood in the transom.

Any epoxy or the injectable stuff from West marine or what?

Sorry, I'm new to this stuff a bit and haven't worked in a fiberglass shop since 1983, Don't have a clue whats good and whats better. And to inject or not?

Thanks, Jeff
