A few weeks ago I picked up a 85 wellcraft sportsman 248. Last owner didn't maintain. I replaced heads, cooling components, etc. I took it out for a test spin last night. The boat seemed a little sluggish, never been on one before though so not sure what to expect. After bringing it up to about 3000 rpm for a bit I tried for WOT. Nothing more than 3300. I only had a few minutes to test as I was watching lightning approach pretty quick. It didn't bog, stumble, miss or anything, just didn't have any more to give.
I began thinking it was the prop pitch, 19 right now. Then this morning I realized I really didn't hear the secondaries open at all, figured I should hear em a bit.
When on the trailer with the engine off if I place the controls full throttle I can move the secondaries with a screwdriver but they are very stiff/stuck. I know there is a spring in the AR but there is some play in the linkage and even where there is play they seem stiff.
I'm thinking they never opened. I ordered a holley renew kit but am wondering where the stick could be and if the kit will resolve it. Do these usually stick at the diaphram, or shaft?
Guess once I take it apart I'll find out but didn't know if there's other parts I might need to order.
