hi guys my brother and I just bought an 84 cimmaron 18-ss with a 350 and a berkeley jet drive. its good to go however the carb needs to be rebuilt. however we decided to just buy a new carb. it has a holley d4jl-9510-j. I don't know anything about that carb and can not find anything. so here are my ?s
1 is it a marine carb?
2 how many cfm?
3 Vacuum Secondaries or Mechanical?

I am not a carb expert nor do I try to be one so any info that anyone may have would be great. Thanks.

Re: holley Carb questions

Don't recognize the model designation. Here is a link list for all the Holley Marine models. See if any appear to be what you have. A couple of very distinct visual features of all Holley Marine carbs is the goldish di-chromate anti corrosion finish and the inverted 'J' shaped float bowl chamber overflow tubes. If yours has none of that then it is probably not marine. You can get to other Holley auto carb models from this link, as well.

I'm not sure on the torque curve and max rpm of a jet driving engine is but at least for normal prop driven 350 cid marine apps,(low end torque w/ midrange rpm) you don't want anything over 600-650 cfm. It's almost universally accepted that you want vacuum secondaries in a boat. (again, at least, for prop driven)
