Home built high-jack plate? post your pics!

Im trying to get my long shaft engine onto a short shaft boat.

so in lue of spending $200+ on a high jack plate, i decided to make my own.

how did you do it? pics?

3/16 aluminum. 3 1/2 inch legs each bend. kinda like a z shape. $50 for the alum & bending. works well with the 40 hp and 50 hp.

you can also build a transom elevator. that where you use aluminum angle, 4 pieces 1 inside 1 outside each side of motor, then sandwich a 2x6 between them.. this is usually for 20hp and below.

the bottom picture is a transom elevator, you would need 2 bolts thry the existing transom. to hold it. i also like longer legs.

Yes, I know that I would need additional bolts to secure it to the transom. The pictures shows the elevated transom plate just placed on the transom for some pics. It now has a place in my basement until I get rid of it. Anybody ??

Nice looking job on the transom do you have finished pics and a few words on how it is working for you?

I am about to do the same thing to my little boat and would like you input since you have experience.
