I just got a boat, plus other equip. Wife don't want more money spent [typical]. Was considering building a transom mount for a 3hp spare. Has anybody done this and how? I have a plan, but there is always somebody else with a step better. Thanks

Howdy, DNP.

Sounds doable. Check out the pictures of auxilary mounts on Cabelas.com or BPS.

Is there a reason you can't just clamp it to the transom?

Ya, no room on the useable transom. Job to mount anything with the steering linkage of my main engine. Could squeeze one in there, but only if I have all left hand turns. :) Not enough room for steering. Will check those sites as there is no place to actually buy one where I live.tks
