Home made powerpoles? and questions on trim tabs

I was wondering id anyone has come up with an idea of how to make a powerpole shallow water anchor? I want to build one that will be cheaper than $1200? any ideas?

Also i have a 16ft carolina skiff so what size trim tabs do i need?
