Homebuilt tilt and trim tutorials or build threads?

I am wondering if anyone here has built their own tilt and trim units and if there was any build threads or tutorials they could point me to?

i think I may have to lower my OB and if I make a jack plate, adding PTT if it isn’t a majorly expensive undertaking would be a great idea

Building a one-off anything is about 10 times more expensive than buying a pre-engineered, pre-built unit. you probably cant buy an all-stainless cylinder or aluminum and stainless cylinder for what you can get a complete hydraulic jack-plate.

selling your existing motor and buying one with PTT is the cheapest and fasted method of getting PTT on an OB.

There have been a few manual jack plate setups posted, dont remember which topic, but IIRC, 4pcs of 4 or 6in heavy aluminum angle, thru bolted to the transom w a transom board for the motor.....

no DIY T&T I remember......

did your motor come as a T&T model? Maybe a range of model years that a factory T&T would fit yours.

Back in the late 1960s, in either Popular Mechanics, of Popular Science there was an Article where a guy cobbled together a home made power trim system for his Mercury outboard. Because neither the hydraulics or the rams used had valving to permit tilting in the case of an impact, he had to design a Rube Goldburg way to permit that.
