Re: Homeless man jailed for poaching
All I can say on this one is WOW!
Although he's probably going to be fed better in jail than he has in a while, I cannot believe that anyone would put the fish above this hungry person, that tells me a lot about society today. And to say that he should be punished because others might want to catch that fish in the future?
He didn't eat a "monkey" or a bald eagle that one would strictly have to search out, he ate the first thing that took his hook; because he was hungry.
This is how we are programmed, we have become accustom to going to the grocery store, but our genetic make-up is to hunt for food, [any food] to survive. How many have kept a fish that was 1/8" under limit? Well that's just as illegal as what this homeless dude did to survive. (in his eyes) Species come and species go, it's nature, but when we start putting ANY species of ANY animal before our fellow humans that need them to survive something just ain't right. He didn't find and eat the last tyrannosaurus Rex and eat it, it was a fish that are plentiful in other parts of the nation and the world.
