Re: Homeless man jailed for poaching

All I can say on this one is WOW!
Although he's probably going to be fed better in jail than he has in a while, I cannot believe that anyone would put the fish above this hungry person, that tells me a lot about society today. And to say that he should be punished because others might want to catch that fish in the future?
He didn't eat a "monkey" or a bald eagle that one would strictly have to search out, he ate the first thing that took his hook; because he was hungry.
This is how we are programmed, we have become accustom to going to the grocery store, but our genetic make-up is to hunt for food, [any food] to survive. How many have kept a fish that was 1/8" under limit? Well that's just as illegal as what this homeless dude did to survive. (in his eyes) Species come and species go, it's nature, but when we start putting ANY species of ANY animal before our fellow humans that need them to survive something just ain't right. He didn't find and eat the last tyrannosaurus Rex and eat it, it was a fish that are plentiful in other parts of the nation and the world.

It's sad that our society has come to this, and it's only going to get worse.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Rules related to spawning fish make a heck of a lot of sense. You get people interrupting what nature intended, and you lose species in a way that's anything but nature. We need to be better stewards of the earth, and goes for the homeless guy in CA as well as the poacher in Congo. I find it hard to believe that any American in this day and age actually NEEDS a fish to survive.

where do you live?

man people are having hard times all over........even before the dip in the economy!.........there are some good people in pretty sad situations...and you also have to take into account ------this guy IS homeless, and he was sharing it, where is the crime in that?..........im sure when they booked this guy the cops didnt pull a wad of money out of his pocket.......have some compassion for your fellow man!...thats what is wrong with this world.
