homemade camper

Anybody ever made their own camper. I am thinking about going to buy a utility trailer, beefing it up a bit and making my own camper. I am just wondering if anybody has tried it or maybe knows where I could get ideas/plans from. I think it would be fun to build and am will probly try it oneway or another! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Zach

You can do it. However, by the time you get done, you will have more money in it than you'd have to pay for a small travel trailer, and it will weigh more.<br /><br />Used travel trailers are a bargain, especially in the smaller sizes. Check 'em out.

From what I have seen, CATransplant is right on the money. There are a lot of used travel trailers out there for low prices.<br /><br />Plus, it's a pain to find all of the parts and equipment you will need in it. And when you do find things, the prices are really high.<br /><br />It's much easier to buy a used one and fix it up the way you want it.<br /><br />If you really do want a project though, maybe you could get a used camper and turn it into something like this camper/boat which isn't in production but seems like it has potential:<br /> http://www.travelcruisers.com/
