Honda 2hp white whitish smoke

We just purchased a honda 4 stroke 2hp air cooled motor. We think it is an 02. We changed fuel and oil and chked spark plug. It was started and runs well.

Then about 3 minutes in it starts smoking white smoke-a lot of it!

Will this damage the engine and how should it be repaired?

Filling this engine with oil can be tricky at best.Very easy to overfill.If in the process of filling that crankcase any oil that gets spilled gets on the cooling fins and will offer up some smoke.If the engine has been transported on the wrong side this will also cause oil to be where you do'nt want it and it will also smoke.Keep in mind also that bugs,spiders,etc seem to love crawling up into those cooling vents and cooking those little critters will create some smoke too.
