I have a 1994 BF 45 Honda. While running the boat, I noticed a weak pee stream at higher RPMs. After a 5 minute run the alarm went off. At under 1500 RPMs there was a pee stream and the alarm would not sound. I idled back to the dock.

I replaced the water pump (impeller and entire pump housing). While the lower unit was off I ran air through the motor and could feel it coming out of lower, so I assume it is not clogged. I also checked the tell tale and it was clear. I also checked the water screen and it was not clogged. The impeller was in ok shape, but the pump liner was a little banged up.

After replacing pump and lower unit, I put it on the muffs and it was not peeing at all. I checked the thermostat and it seems dry. ??? The alarm did not go off. I plan on replacing the thermostat, but does anyone have any other suggestions.

Thanks.

Why don't you try flushing out your motor with CLR and vinegar?
My buddy was having the same problem that you describe and this is how he fixed it. He ran the motor for two hours in a barrel with one gallon of CLR and a gallon of vinegar diluted with water. you would be amazed at all the crud that came out of the cooling system. I spent alot of money to have my Honda BF90 torn apart to find the same problem. Try flushing first, it is the cheapest thing to do.
