Looking at buying a 2009 Honda 50 hp motor with only 3 hours on it. The engine was just too big for his Jon boat and has been setting in storage the whole time. Are there any normal problems the hondas have that I should be aware of? Is there anything that should give me heart burn about buying a motor with only 3 hrs?

Re: Honda 50 go

If gas has set in the carbs, they may need to be cleaned. This is common due to all the small orifices in the carbs. Also trash builds up in the water jacket and can limit water flow usually making the tale-tell stop working or might cause the engine to over heat. Other than that they are pretty bulletproof motors and honestly with a little upkeep you won't even have the problems mentioned. I make sure to drain the carbs anytime it's going to set a month or more.
