Changed engine oil in my BF20 Honda and when I used it the next time I had no Forward or Reverse. I have remote control and linkage looks okay and seems to operate. Prop spins free in Forward and Reverse slowly clockwise. Any ideas?
Problem turned out to be the shift linkage coupler. I had the water pump serviced about a month ago and apparently they didn't tighten the coupler retention nut. Go figure!

Im haven the same problem with a BF40. is this the shift linkage coupler? I payed around with it a little bit by hand and got my motor to shift again. Im not confident it set correct and do not want to head out on the river until its set correctly.
