HI Y'all. My first post - from Australia. I have a 1989 15HP 4stroke Honda and the rubber bush got chewed out the other day. I have ordered new prop as I live remote Northern Territory - yes, big mobs of crocodiles buffalo wild pig and awesome barramundi.
While I was there I tested prop to see if it did the same thing as my Mercruiser, that is , ratchet when turned the right way and lock when turned the opposite way. This happened okay in reverse but in forward it seemed to be the same whichever direction I turned the prop - difficult to turn and not an easy ratcheting in clockwise direction.
Also the long nut which joins the upper and lower shift shaft is really difficult to move and mot sure if this is related to my bush being chewed out.
I don't want to put new prop on and for same thing to happen. When I was in the water, it was shifting into gear fine unti lthe bush went.
Appreciate all responses. Thanks.
