My Honda BF25 (2007) has had about 1-4 hrs. of use a week in the spring/summer/fall since it was new. It has been maintained well, but since early on it has stalled more and more while at idling speed - and only while idling. After stalling the motor seems flooded, and will not restart untill a couple minutes pass. Carburators tuned too rich?? Any suggestions would be great. I'd love to try the repair myself - fairly handy. Also would like to hear any advice on which service manuals are the best for more than just maintainance.
Thanks

Re: Honda BF25 stalls when idling

Pull the motor cover off......
On the starboard side of the engine you will see the carb linkage. Should be 3 carbs.

Find the adjustment screw on this linkage (see photos..the first photo shows the screw you want to adjust right in the center)

Not the brass colored screw ok?..that is the needle valve adjustment screw as discussed below. You want to adjust the SS screw that has the spring under it. (this spring is to hold the adjustment and not allow the screw to back out)

With the motor running at idle, turn this screw until the RPM's advance a little bit.
That should solve the dying at idle problem.

I can bet you don't have a tach on your setup so use your ear to fine tune the idle speed.
Just make sure you do not advance the idle speed too much..as that will make the gears bang when you shift.

On the carbs, there are 2 small screws...one above and one below.
That upper screw is to adjust the mixture via a needle valve.
Screw all the way in until it just touches the carb....the back out 1 1/2 turns.
Do this on all the carbs and you should be very close to the correct mixture of fuel.

The bottom screw on the carb is for draining the bowl of fuel.
This is a very good idea to do if your motor sits for longer than say a week or so.
Honda carbs are very susceptable to gumming up and running like sheeeet.
Drain off the fuel and close the screws.

Honda puts out a full shop repair manual that has proven invaluable to me.
Get one.
