Honda bf7.5 4 stroke

I have a question about my outboard, I put in a new impeller and when i crank it I only get water to come out of the pee hole for the first few seconds,Do i have to wait for the thermostat to open up or what. It dosen't seem to be clogged up.Can any one help please? Thank you very much.sjfarish

When you say "crank it" are you just starting it or actually running it. If your running it I would say check to make sure your Pee hose isn't kinked, when you put it back together. You could have installed it wrong.
