I have a honda BF75 (serial number is BF75-1100197). I have been through the motor and done the following.

1) replaced exciter coil.
2) replaced A/C ignition coil.
3) Cleaned points.

Following this i still did not have any fire. Now i am trying to verify if the condenser is good. I tested the points. Strange thing I found is that when checking ohms from one point to the other, with points open or spread apart, it is shorted out (0 ohms).

i ended up figuring out that the only time I could break the circuit by spreading apart the points is with the ignition coil wire disconnected (the wire between condenser/point to ignition coil).

So then I re-connected condenser to ignition coil and disconnected the kill switch, points were still shorted (0 ohms) when spread apart. I also disconnected the oil pressure wire (read this online somewhere) but with no avail...same result..Points were shorted with them spread apart. If i connect the condenser wire to the exciter coil, points are still shorted as well. Is this correct? I have in my head, that when the points are separated the circuit should be open between them?

First question would be, is this normal operation?
Second question would be, if not normal, what could cause this?
I think i will replace the condenser just to be sure...

Thanks for any help on this!!
