Hi Folks,

This is my first post after just joining the forum. I have a friend who has a 1997Honda BF90 and we can't start it due to the fact that there is no spark. The motor starter cranks the engine well. The motor was winterized last fall and spent the cold New England Winter outside under a canvas garage shelter. I have been through most all if not all of the Honda threads on this forum and I do find some information such as possbily a bad stator, kill switch malfunction, and neutral start interlock switch possible malfunction. The engine now has 3500 hours usage and it never has had any problems other than replacement of water pumps and other routine maintenance items. We can't locate the main power relay and we don't know whether it is mounted on the engine or located in the control panel. We are going to check out the previously mentioned items as soon as the rain stops (3 day Nor'Easter) and I wonder if anyone can add to the list of things that we should check. Thanks for your help and the forum looks very good. I have a Mercury25Hp and a Merc. 9.9HP and it will be interesting for me to go through the archives for information on these motors.

Hi Lester,
Thank you for the information and welcome as well as transferring my post to the right forum. I will have to watch my P's and Q's more closely on future posts. It is also nice to find some friendly constructive criticism in a forum. I appreciate it.
Best regards- Wilmo

Re: Honda BF90 No spark

No spark is an indication of a failure in the engine ignition system. Start at the kill switch and work your way back to the engine CPU/CDI box...Dont forget to check the fuse on the engine first.
