My Honda smokes when I first start it. Then for the rest of the day it will be ok. I have checked the oil and it is in the middle of the stick. It also seems to take a lot of choking the first time you crank it. I normaly pull the manual choke and pull up on the warm/ idle handle to get it to start. Any suggestions, could I be flooding it. Thanks

Re: honda motor smokes

the cause of smoking in four strokes is from leaving the motor trimmed up...the oil leaks past the rings into the cylinders

Lets try again. You are likely trimmed to far in when this unit is shut off allowing any oil left on the rods or cylinder walls to travel past the rings and puddle in the cumbustion chamber by virtue of gravity.Depending on the engine you have, you can either adjust your tilt pin out to near level when relaxed if manual tilt or use the power tilt to park it at least partly up.
