New owner of a very old pontoon boat, and it has a Johnson 60 on it... J60ELCEA to be exact. There are no gauges hooked up or even an ignition switch- just a mass of chopped wires under the console. Looks like most went to auxiliary lighting. I already contacted the local boat store for the ignition switch, and they have 1 in stock for $35.
At any rate, I'd like to trash the wiring and start over. I guess I'll need a speedo and pitot, and that would be separate. I don't even know what gauges or functions this motor will support other than a tach. Oil pressure? Engine temperature? Anything else??
The console is old and plastic, so I'm going to install a (nicer) cover plate and mount gauges into that. That leaves me pretty much wide open as to what I install, but I can't find anything online about the wiring at all.
Thanks in advance!!
