I posted this as a reply to another post, but bringing up this memory I just had to share again here. I saw in another post someone caught their dog. I have one better. I too caught my dog. Here it is.
I was not in a boat, was bank fishing in the pond behind our house when I was a kid about 13. I was using a bobber fishing shallow. The dog decided he wanted to "fetch" the bobber after a cast and splashed out to where the bobber was floating. To keep him from chomping the bobber I gave the rod a tug. Bobber pulled in away from the dog, only problem was the dog was straddeling the line. Bobber went between his legs dragging the hook behind. When the hook got to the rear legs I saw the dog jump and turn in a hurry. It was at that time I realized I had hooked the dog.....right in the scrotum! First I was upset that I hooked the dog. I got the dog out of the water and felt really really bad about where I had hooked the dog. As I was trying to snip the end off of the hook and remove it I noted how this must look to the outside world. The dog would not lay down, but would stand in front of me facing away.

Now that's funny.

Any passerby would probably just have thought you were a homesick sheepfarmer.

This is sort of boat related. When I was in High School, my step mom had a couple of dogs. One day I noticed that one of the dogs wasnt running around the yard, so I went to see what he was doing.

I found him. He was an Afghan Hound(long black hair) that loved to chew. My dad had a new custom boat cover on his boat the used bungie cord around the bottom to stay attached.

The dog had chewed through the cover and somehow gotten tied up in the bungie cord....by his hind leg. You guessed it, he had the bungie cord wrapped around his scrotum and one leg. Not only was it wrapped, he had several turns on it from trying to get out and it was wrapped securly in his fur.

My Dad and I finally freed him, it took about half an hour and several dog bites to finally cut enough fur away to relase his testicles. They had swollen to about twice their size by then. About the time he got loose, my step mom opened the gate. He took off like a shot, sort of bow legged and weaving. :D

Hmmm, that reminds me of my friends' cat. They live on a houseboat and they have a cat who catches crawdads. One night I was hanging out at his house and the cat comes to the door (hanging from the door at the window, actually) and my friend lets him in. Immediately, the cat bolts for the bathroom and my friend get up and follows him saying that anytime he enters the house running, he has a crawdad. Well, this time the 'dad was clamped onto the cat's collar and wouldn't let go. The cat was a little panicked and trying to bat it off, just about the funniest cat trick I've eve seen.

For whatever reason I can't even guess, my friend does not appreciate the cat's efforts. I have never owned a cat who regularly hunted and brought me actual food (did have a cat who brought a rabbit once, but not several a night!)

He will want you to remember this blunder next time he drains the vein on the carpet. Dog's seek revenge in the most subtle ways.
