hooking up controls

Well thanks to you guys i fixed the controls to my boat myself.... now when hooking them up to the motor i know i put the controls in neutral and the motor in neutral and adjust the cables to fit. but how do i tell if the motors in neutral.......o yeah anything special i need to do before trying to shift from neutral to drive or reverse with the motor off thanks john

how do i tell if the motors in neutral..

Spin the prop, by hand. If in gear, it will clunk or not spin.

that will work <br />after installation make sure shift has equal travelbetween neutral and forward-neutral and reverse adjust cable until this is acheived.<br />make sure throttle return to idle stop <br />what motor?
