Horn never goes off. As soon as key is turned on the horn blows. It is a 1990 40HP Evinrude. It cannot be overheated as the motor has not even been started. The motor runs fine but the horn will not turn off.
If it is the horn, is that a difficult thing to change? Could it be something else? Help.

Re: Horn

Try disconnecting the sending unit then try the key again. If the horn doesn't blow the sending unit is bad. If it does blow there is a short somewhere. Do not run the motor with sending unit disconnected. Replace if needed about $12

Smitty

Smitty,
I am not familiar with motor. Where and what is a "sending Unit"? Where is it located?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Horn

My Johnson and Evinrude both have a brown wire going into the head. Back by the spark plugs toward the top og the head. Yours should be the same.
Smitty
