Re: Horsepower?

I have been able to find that the 5.0Gi was rated at 250 horsepower at the propshaft. I understand that the DP and SX ratings are the same. Though no longer available, I found a few examples with a Google of:

Volvo Penta horsepower 5.0Gi

A 5.0L engine, even with a DP and fuel injected, is on the small size for a 25' boat, so be sure to do a test run with plenty of weight on board to see how it does.

Here is some information on the 5.0GI engine from 99.

5.0Gi/DP-S

Re: Horsepower?

Thank you soo much for the pdf. I am wondering if it will be good for east coast in FL and is powerful enough to pull a skier

5.7 would give you lots more torque, I agree with the skipper, 5.0 is probably the base model power. I'd say you'll get about the same performance as a 18 bowrider with a 4 cylinder. Criuse well enough and probably get a skier up, but may be a challange with a full load to move that much boat quickly.
