Starting to put everything back together on the Tracker and noticed the hose going from the livewell drain to the outside tube is looking rough. It looks like a radiator hose with an inside diameter of 1 1/4". I was wondering if it just radiator hose or some kind of special hose? I'm thinking maybe just using the braided PVC flex tubing you get at Lowes. It ain't cheap at $4.35 a foot but I only need 4"-5". The second livewell that set in front of the console I'm moving it back beside the other so the seating will be side by side. That one I will just make into some dry storage so I'll plug the drain.

I HAVE NOT ever worked on a live well, but on auto gates green stripe hose is the best for heater hoses and whatnot. it lasts forever and bends tighter than most. Below deck on a boat i think it would outlast the fittings that connect it. (it dose on autos under the hood in the 220 F underhood temps for decades.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look at that. The distance between the livewell spout and the boat spout is only about 2". So the only way to replace the hose is to take the livewell loose and that's a bear. So I definetly want something that will last a long time.

It's not under pressure so most any automotive heater hose is fine. I'm not crazy about the clear tubing as it seems to get hard really quickly....

Go to any marine store or right here at iboats and get the proper hose. Not that heater hose wouldn't work, just a stickler for using the right parts for the right job. Be sure to also use dual clamps when refiting. Also try to avoid sharp bends, as that will be one of the first places of failure.

Check out something like this..

That is what I'm looking for. But I can't see paying $50-$70 for a 50' roll when I only need 4". I'll check with some of the boat stores and see if they carry it and sell it in smaller lengths.

I know my marina and most marine stores have it and at least around here will cut it to size.. Some other not to be mentioned sites will also ship you hose by the foot.

Check at the local Ace or True Value and see what they have in their hose section. I replaced my livewell hoses and have seen the same type of hose at these hardware stores, though, it's white and I'm not sure if it comes in 1 1/8"... It's the same construction of hose though.
