Hose From Outdrive Through Bellows

I just had my outdrives painted and saw the hose from the outdrive leading into the bellows was broken at the junction to the outdrive due to corrosion. Does this hose lead to the engine cooling system? I have been driving the boat without any heating problems for a few months and the hose must have been cracked at that time without me knowing. Is this hose for another purpose or strictly for cooling? I have a 1993 Carver 28. It has 2 outdrives with the 4.3 engine, has raw water system. Thanks

yes, that fitting is part of your cooling system
that is where the cooling water goes between the drive pickup and the motor

that fitting is on the list of things that gets checked/serviced annually or every 100 hours (which ever occurs first)
