Hot 4 hp

Hello everyone
i have a 4hp chrysler which runs for a while but gets very hot i have stripped it because gear lever was snapped so i have welded it up and this works fine now but i still have this getting really hot problem any ideas

Try and post your model number. I was suprised to see at least the newer circa 78 to 80 have impellers. Figured with it that small that it was air cooled. I would start with replacing the impeller however the impeller for that motor must be made from gold cause they cost like $65 part number 47-F521065-1. It dont look like it has a thermostat so drop the lower unit and at least verify the impeller is intact.

the model no:47H9F serial 1747 i dont think i saw an impeller when i took the bottom end off what i really need is a exploded veiw.
