hello all,I have some concerns with the temp I'm getting from my J140TLCDC.I just installed a water pump kit,and new thermostats. The impeller that was installed was the pin drive type and was obviously not turning due to markings on the impeller and drive shaft.I replaced it with the wedge type along with all the parts in the kit.The motor got hot enough to melt the verntherms into their casings as well as melting the water fittings on the housings. All has been replaced and a compression test read 130 on all 4 cylinders.I ran the motor on the muffs and got a good stream from the pisser. The concern I have is the steam that was coming from the water flowing out of the exhaust. It only ran for a few minutes because it was idling too fast and I need to do a link and sink.I hope someone can shead some light on this for me.Sorry for the long post but I thought it might be necesary.<br />Thanks In Advance

Re: hot looper

You may have an inner exhaust housing leak at one of the gaskets.Could even be where the housing makes up to the bottom of the powerhead due to your previous overheat. At best it's just one of the lower rubber boot gaskets. Was the engine getting hot after your new waterpump install?

Re: hot looper

Thanks for the reply,I only ran the motor for a few minutes after replacing the water pump due to the idle speed problem.I noticed after letting it cool down that there was water seaping out of the head gaskets in a few places ,wonder if there might be some heat exchange going on in the combustion chambers. Will pull the heads off and check. Also the exhaust gaskets you mentioned.Again thanks for the reply.
