Hot over $25 launch fee!

We have used the same boat ramp since we got our boat 2 years ago. The Army Corps sold it to Lake Lanier Islands back towards the end of last year. We have used the ramp many times this year and the price had gone up to $5 no problem! We went to drop in Saturday and the ramp had bright yellow signs everywhere $25 ramp fees! I bet the poor fellow who was there to collect the money got an earful on Satuday! What a rip off! We went to another Corps ramp and paid $3 bucks!

We live near Allatoona.....this year we were lucky enough to have saved enough cash over the winter to put our boat in at the docks. The many years before when we trailered our boat to the lake...there isn't a chance in hell I would pay 25.00 for a launching fee. That is crazy! $3.00 to $5.00 is about what we have always paid. Sorry to hear the price difference!

So far to the best of my knowledge, Ohio does not charge for any public ramp. Private ramps do. I just hope our wise ones don't find out that they can find another way for revenue :D

$25 is just way too much IMHO. For that price, they should launch and recover for you :D

for that price they should have a few guys tending the dock to help with mooring to the dock and such. there are 5 ramps here in palm beach that now charge $10, and people were upset with that, i think they would riot in city hall for anything more!

We have a couple of ramps around here that you don't have to pay for the launch, you just have to pay a couple of bucks for parking. Not a bad deal in my opinion to help re-coop the money spent to build the area.

The national parks for lake mead collect a yearly fee...i think its $40 for my truck and boat combined. Its a good deal, i think, because you can see roads being re-paved, ramps being improved, etc. I could not imagine paying $25 each launch...thats insane.

we pay 20 a year here in my town.

for 25 a launch those ramps had better be in TOP shape with red carpets down the dock.

That's just crazy, it's 89.00 for the year where a few people I know launch their boats. I am lucky, I am the Dock Master for a marina so i get a great deal on a slip.

$25.00? Absolutely not! Is the new owner from Chicago?
Even the gas to get to another ramp can't be half that.
I paid $7.00 Sat. on the Mississippi at a private marina. There is a city park and a State park right down the road. But the convenience and security, plus the REALLY nice ramps were worth the money. But if I were to do it every weekend, I wouldn't do it even at $5.00.

Wow, with the number of COE ramps available to you for either the $3 day use fee, or the $20 for the year, I'm surprised they are getting ANY business!

The launch ramp at the private marina where my house is charges that much.

Unless they put a gun to your head and the demand the $25, I guess you still have a choice to accept the price or not.

Crazy price !!! Not one that anyone should pay. Around here it is 8 to 10 dollars a launch or around $100 per season.

They must have been talking to Morse Reservoir and Geist Reservoir here in Indy. Are you ready for this? from Memorial Day to Labor Day: $28, any other time it's $18. They do have an early bird deal, if you get off the water by 11 am, you'll get $18 back. Gives the fisherman an incentive to leave and make room for the pleasure boaters. Even at those prices, those lakes are still a f.ing zoo on the weekend.

Re: Hot over $25 launch fee!

that ramp better be clean, no holes, assume liability for your rig and towing vehicle and have the hooter girls topless taking care of docking your boat before I pay $25.00... One guy went from $1 to $2 dollars here because when the lakes were low his ramp could not be used. This went I think well over a year. He is recuperating and I will pay his 2 dollars for the second year, next year if he still up 2 dollars im moving 10 miles down the road and do it for free...

Re: Hot over $25 launch fee!

My understanding is Lake Lanier Islands bought out 3 of the Army Corps ramps and campgrounds. This particular one is Shoal Creek. The lot is small and there is no restrooms or anything. The dock is still partially out of the water so to load and unload you must do so from shore or once the boat is out of the water. It was a great area but we went ten miles further found an even better ramp with 4 lanes bathrooms and 2 docks and paid $3 to park! It is on the north side of the lake so it was much quiter out there too!

Re: Hot over $25 launch fee!

I think around here the most i seen for a launch is 10bucks. One of the lakes has an automated launch attendent. You pay 5bucks these pillars go down into ground you launch your boat pull out and they come back up. To retreive pay 5 bucks again and same thing

1 year the lake level was down to low and you had to launch deep etc one guy did and as he was pulling out the pillars came up and wiped out his oil pan. The company had to pay i think it was 6k for the vehicle. from what i understand cause the launchings and retrivings were farther down the truck wasnt on the pressure plates for the pillars
