Brian,<br /><br />A hotfoot can be a great addition to a bass boat style vessel, but please explain why you want to add one. Brian,<br /><br />I have a 20 foot fish and ski that originally had a hot foot on it. i removed it because i do quite a bit of shallow running though rivers with large rocks in them. With the hot foot, i couldn't stand up to see the rocks as well and had to stay glued to the seat. That was the main disadvantage for me. The only other thing that bothered me that was on long runs, over an hour, it was much easier to just put the hand throttle down and go than to keep my foot on the pedal all of the time.<br />The advantages are that it is nicer to ski/tube with, you can keep both hands on the wheel which is quite a bit safer/ and the throttle response time is quicker becaue you don't have to grab for the throttle to change speeds. I wish they made one that you could use either the hand or foot throttle. Most of all, i think it's just wahtever you are comfortable with. good luck,<br /><br />Steve

land and sea makes one that works with the control box so that hand or foot throttle may be used.

Brian,<br /><br />Sorry, sold it on ebay.Got about $5.00 less than the thing is worth new. Mine was t&h hotfoot that i think only cost about $60. I just checked out the one from land and sea, but by the time i got the right cables, the price would be over $300. I think i would rather put that much $ towards something else. Thanks for the info though. What kind of fish and ski do you have brian?<br /><br />Steve

As the pedal gets older, it can tend to be harder to push and it may get stuck in a high throttle position. It is just somthing you need to be careful of.

I've installed a hot foot on my boat and the things that kept coming up was to have an extra spring on board just in case. If the springs breaks the throttle can get stuck wide open and you'll have to pull your kill switch and pull it back up with your toe. Also if you have one installed be sure to keep your old throttle cable intact,wrap it up and tuck into the bilge just in<br />case your hot foot cable breaks. That way you can use your old setup to get home. Oh when you first use it you WILL be looking for the break pedal to try to stop. Old habit!<br /><br />Dutch
