i would like to add an hour meter to my alumacraft navigator 175 cs it has a new 90hp merc 2 stroke. is adding the meter a complicated job?
thanks,
teamstromer
It is really a piece of cake. I wired mine to a circuit that is "live" when the ignition key is on. I never have the key on without running the engine so this accurately represents the running time of the engine. If you were to use the on position to run accessories while the engine was off, this method would not be for you. Connect the + lead to the + on the guage, and the - to the -. Your done.
That is how most are hooked up, with the key on, the meter runs. However a friend of mine took his boat to a shop to be worked on and they left the key on for a LONG period of time. Probably on accident since the hours went up like 100 hours over the week it was in the shop.
