I have a 1996 30HP evinrude, mod#E30TEEDE. Is there any way to hook up an hour meter to this motor? A small meter that would fit inside the cover?
THANKS, JOHN

Re: Hour meter

Hour meters are pretty common, I believe you can get one at Harbour Freight, then you just need to find a switched power source on the engine to power it.

Re: Hour meter

Install a blocking diode between the rectifier and the connection strip. Then take the power for the hour meter before the diode. Hour meter will then only get power when engine running and charging.

Re: Hour meter

You will be hard pressed to fit either a 2-inch diameter or one of the rectangular "powered" hour meters under the cowl. Vibration and heat would likely kill it. However, Tiny Tach does make a very small unit and it is self powered so no power connection is required. They include a tach function and the only connection is the sensor wire that simply wraps around one of the plug wires.
