Hours on Motor

I have a 2005 Mecury 60 hp Bigfoot that came on my used poontoon boat. The former owner could not tell me how many hours are on the motor. Is there a way to find this out? Is there a scan tool for outboard motors that can tell me this?

Yes but you need to take it to a merc dealer. The hours are logged into the cpu.
