I always wondered about the hour meter on boats. It tells how long the motor has run but what does that mean to me? Not much. However I just found out yesterday that my newest truck has an hour meter on it too. You just hold down the trip odometer reset button for 4 seconds & the hours appear in the mileage area. So the engine ran for 344 hours & went 11352 miles. So with that as a guide, 33 miles per hour & multiplied that times 450 hours & got 14850 miles on my boats. They each have almost 450 hours on them. Now I realize that these engines work a lot harder, kind of like my motorhome engine which just got rebuilt as 69000 thousand miles, but that still doesn't seem like a lot of miles or time on a boat engine. Maybe that's why they still run so good? What do you-all think of this analogy? What is a lot of hours on a boat?
