I've been boating for a while. The wife and I rented houseboats for quite a few summers so I'm even a bit familiar with those critters however...We had rented a 42 footer for a week on Lake Vermilion (MN). At checkout, they informed me they didn't want my fishing boat moored to the side of the houseboat when underway. They wanted it towed behind. We've always tied our fishing boat to the side on other houseboats but whatever, follow the rules. So off we went with the little 14' bouncing around behind us. No troubles the first few days. One evening we had watched a storm approaching and figured we better tie up for the night so we found an island with a houseboat landing and made our approach. (These are giant pontoons, not hulls.) With the wind at my stern I realized I was a bit off on approach as there was clearly a beach landing with rocks on either side. I eased both Bigfoot 50's into reverse to correct my path and poof, both motos kill. Meanwhile the wind is taking me where I didn't want to be. Frantically I tried to start the engines again. Nothing...Finally I went to the back of the boat and whatta ya know. Theres my 14' right up to the motors with it's rear end and lower unit completely out of the water with the bow inches from going under be held down by the tow rope rapped around both props! "Honey, get me a fricken knife please!"<br /><br />chunky
