Have a 14x65 fiberglass houseboat roof that needs repairs in two areas. After these repairs are done, i desire to "re-gelcoat" the roof so it looks new and will stay that way for 5 or so years. How do I apply the gelcoat since new gelcoat does not stick to old. do i sand the entire roof to establish a mechanical bond or is there a chemical that can make the old gelcoat accept the new w/o the 5 days of sanding? any products in mind?
