Re: Houseboat

I love how it's called a "Custom" houseboat.

And it must be well constructed. Looks like it has Bearing Buddies on it, I think.... :p

I'm sure the Coast Guard would leave you alone. That thing is like launching a boat still atttahced to a trailer, not to mention unseaworthy, dangerous, prone to rust esp. in salt water!

I wouldn't swamp it on purpose but i wouldn't slow down either.

Funny, do you have rednecks website in Australia? that is good candidate for it.

By the way, steering wheel in that houseboat is on left hand side, do all boats in Australia are left sided?:)

As far as I know, all on the right. Mine have been anyway. I think the kitchen was in the way.;)

The "trick" part is the 10K price tag.

Have a look at the rest of the boats for sale on that site. You guys have no idea how lucky you are with the prices you pick up boats for. The $500 boats on craigslist would pull 4k over here every day of the week.

Well, mate, don't go gander at our used car ads either then. I have family there and have heard about the cost of a Toyota Corolla. Can't imagine outboards.

Re: Houseboat

All else aside, how might one launch that from a ramp with the motor hanging down from the tongue like that? Do you A) Jump overboard and lift the motor, B) climb or reach out the window to access that motor, or C) just let the prop drag? It don't look like there's enough room to tilt the motor without hitting the tongue or coupler, and beaching that would no doubt dig that prop into the dirt.

The side pontoons appear to fold up? I see some sort of hinge looking brackets on the side of that thing.

The weight of the trailer frame is probably all that's keeping it upright, plus, I doubt the bottom side of any camper would be very waterproof if submerged, I wonder if they did anything to keep the water from soaking into the floor and insulation of that thing.

I'm sure the fact that it's for sale has a lot to do with the way it looks and floats.

Com on now, a sophisticated set up like this must have some sort of NASA designed trim/tilt system.;)
